Food

If I was going to feed my betta fish flakes, I would go for these.
They have the least amount of ingredients and preservatives

This is my bettas' absolute FAVORITE food! Check your local pet store's freezer section. You can also click HERE to learn how I feed it to them.

Like the omega carnivore mix, this frozen food is great for bettas if you want to leave out the blood worms! Pet stores will usually have both in stock.

Substrate

I use this in my tanks, and have LOVED it for capping a planted substrate. See how I did that HERE. It has a larger grit than most aquarium sand which makes it easier to deal with overall.

My go-to for any betta tank. My plants absolutely LOVE this stuff. And capped with a lighter gravel/sand, it looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

This substrate is a lot like the one previously shown, but is smaller in size.

Equipment

This heater has been my favorite by far. Hygger also has a good insurance policy. If it breaks within a year, they will replace it if you reach out to them!

Every time I do tank maintenance, I use the tweezers and scissors! They are perfect for grabbing and removing plant matter.

This light is perfect because it allows you to get into the tank and clean without having to remove it!
It also elevates the height of your tank

This siphon is perfect for cleaning the waste from your substrate

This handy tool helps you clean the glass without getting your hands wet!

Sponge filter setup

These three components make up the sponge filter - SPONGE, AIRLINE TUBING, AIR PUMP - my favorite fish tank filter of all time! You can also go with a hang on back (HOB) which is the second most commonly used filter

Fertilizer

If you decide to use gravel instead of planted substrate, these root tabs will keep your plants healthy!

I have been using this for several years and it is my favorite for plants that feed from the water column like anubias and java fern

De-chlorinator

This is my favorite de-chlorinator that I have been using for the past two years

Safe is a more concentrated, powdered version of Seachem Prime

Natural Decor

This is one of my favorite stones to use in aquascaping. The holes and crevices are perfect for little plants! It adds a lot of visual interest. I usually buy this stone from Etsy

If you're looking for a smoother stone that is still absolutely beautiful, this one is for you!

Spiderwood is my favorite wood to use. I usually get several medium pieces and arrange them together with rocks

This wood is darker and will release more tannins into your water

Plants

Any variation of Anubias are great for anyone! They love being attached to rocks and wood

All variations of these are wonderful! They are also common and easy to find

Bucephalandra is a new favorite of mine. It reminds me of anubias, and it's just as easy to care for!

Floating Plants

Lex is my favorite provider for floating plants! Salvinia, red root floaters, and Frogbit are great starters
